An introduction to dynamic simulation. Demonstrates the set-up procedures, the use of dynamic UnitOps, manipulation of parameters with Ramps and equipment sizing.

Module 2

Module 3
Demonstrates the use of dynamic simulation in the development of batch distillation processing procedures, scale up using appropriate equipment, services and control systems.

Module 4
Demonstrates the use of dynamic simulation in the design, operation and process control of continuous distillation. Studies the effect of process changes, upsets and control system interactions.

Day 3
Module 5
Considers the design, operation and process control of batch stirred reactors with jackets or coils. Reviews shell and tube heat exchanger sizing and performance.

Module 6
Considers the safety aspects of process plant operation. Emergency relief and blowdown system sizing and behaviour are studied. Safety study of “What If” scenarios and equipment failure are set up in Excel operational matrices to test outcomes.
